Word Sound Match and Connectors To Improve Flow
Vowel sounds on which we spend time as we sing are called "target
sounds".
Sounds that precede "target sounds" are called "anticipatory sounds".
Sounds that follow "target sounds" are called "continuant sounds".
Sing the first phrase of "My Wild Irish Rose" -- with all target sounds
sung on the beat
and --
with all of the "anticipatory" and "continuant" sounds connected and
preceding the beat.
Give more time and energy to the "singable consonants" (n, ng, m, l)
Remove energy from "unsounded, unvoiced consonants" (sh)
Energize the sounds that end the phrase (oh, oo z); Present your gift.
Apply these connecting techniques to your songs.
